I recently bought the Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara in the waterproof formula from Priceline, they had only released it the day before I bought it and they had a MAHUSSIIVVEE sale on store wide and I really wanted to take advantage of the sales and stock up on my favourites and try out some things new!
With the promotion I bought this mascara for $9.95 marked down from its original price of $19.95
I was drawn to this product by its packaging, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but don't get me wrong the colour scheme is really pretty! My first impressions of the mascara wasn't a big deal as I used it in a combination with Maybelline 'The Falsies' I really wanted a big volume lash as I was going out the night that I first used it, I would usually Maybelline's 'One By One' mascara with 'The Falsies' but I left it at a friends house so I used my new mascara instead. It was probably a bad decision to use that time as my first impression but I was in a hurry!
I used the mascara a couple of days after the first time I put it on. I used it with a very simple everyday makeup look (with no liner).
I found the bend in the wand quite confusing as it didn't really act as a necessity and made it slightly awkward to coat my lashes. I feel as if the formula is well made, it doesn't clump or flake which is two ticks for me! It gave a real natural look with one layer and I like that about it a lot. To add a more dramatic look I used another coat to see how it would turn out. It was successful but not quite as good as I was hoping.
The second time I used this mascara I curled my lashes (unlike the previous time). It held the curl very well and I found it easier than using it on a regular non curled lash but I still didn't feel like the bend in the wand was necessary.
All in all I don't regret buying this mascara but it didn't live up to my expectations. I was hoping for a lot out of this product, I've heard mixed reviews and I was really surprised. Some people absolutely HATED it and some LOVED it. I was just someone who was in-between. It isn't something I will be rushing to the store to buy, although I may repurchase it if I need it (or if they stop making the 'One By One')
