I decided to give the service a go as I thought it was an opportunity for a blog post to let others know about my experience with them. I got my first one for $5 USD, roughly $7.50 AUD and free shipping so I didn't really see it as a big loss if I was not a fan of the products. Considering I was going to receive a small makeup bag, 4 lip products and a bonus beauty item, you can't really go wrong!
I ordered my November bag in October, so the wait time for it to actually leave America took over a month. I was charged immediately for it but waited until mid December to receive it. I doubt people in America (where the company is based) would have the same amount of delays that I had, just take into account if you live in the lost lands of Australia that things don't get here all that fast.
After finally receiving my order mid December, I was extremely excited after having waited all that time. In the November Lip Monthly, you recieve a small zip makeup bag, it's the perfect size to keep your touch up makeup in your handbag. Inside you get 4 lip products. The Mirabella Lip Pencil ($25), Beauty for Real Gloss ($22), Ofra Liquid Lipstick ($19.90), Chapstick Lip Balm and a mini sugar lip scrub.
I am a huge fan on lip crayon pencil things. I prefer them to the traditional lipstick actually so I was ecstatic to find one in my bag. Mirabella is a brand I have heard of but never tried. I recieved the shade "" which is a classic true red. It's creamy and comfortable to wear. It's also quite long lasting when you blot it with some powder and a tissue.
The next product was disappointing. I'm not lip glosses biggest fan because of its sticky nature and the fact that by the end of the day it would have migrated into your hair and all over your face. This one in particular unimpressed me, it's super sticky and has large chunks of glitter and shimmer which is in my eyes 'quite childish'. I do however like the fact that it has a super bright LED light which is a bit gimmicky but I'm all about a good gimmick! The shade is "".
Next the liquid lipstick. I first heard of Ofra in a Kathleenlights video where she worked with the brand to create a few shades in the liquid lipstick line. I had heard good things about them so I was dying to try them out, but living in Australia meant that I would not be able to get them. Until! I recieved one in the shade "" which is a dark maroone-y colour. The formula itself is opaque and matte yet comfortable to wear. If I could purchase more, I definitely would - particularly the shades in the Kathleen collaboration.
The last lip product was a Chapstick. A good old fashioned Chapstick. I'm more of a Lucas paw paw girl but Chapsticks are classics. This one was a bit of a bargain because it's double ended. One side is a daytime lip balm which includes spf 14 which is really important and then on the other side a night balm. I don't think there's anything different about the two other than the daytime one having spf but regardless, it's a good product! You can't really go wrong with a Chapstick.
And finally the bonus product. I've heard that the bonus product isn't normally a lip product but the November bag was. It's a bog standard raw sugar lip scrub. I don't really have much to say about it because all it really is is a pot of sugar with a bit of oil to scrub away dry skin and moisturise.
My experience with LipMonthly has been a good one, however I don't think I will be continuing using their service. It takes far too long to get here, I was charged for my second bag before I had received my first (it was refunded, so I'm not too fussed) and the price increases after your first bag to roughly $15 AUD and I'd rather stash that away and save up over a few months to buy a Mac lipstick I've been lusting after for a while.
So we have some pros, and some cons - but, let me know what you think of LipMonthly. You may just persuade me to reconsider my unsubscription.
Thankyou for reading as always and sorry about the extreme delay!
All my love,
Clarissa X
