Quick Fix Mistakes: Hair Dyesaster

Anyone who's ever dyed their hair at home using a box dye kit has more than likely found themselves in a situation where the colour is just not right. I myself have been there, done that far too many times. You would have thought I would've learnt by now but nope! I recently dyed my hair back to what I thought was my original root colour after having enough of the brassy mess I called my hair. I bought the dye, dyed my hair and only then did I realise that it was an extremely wrong colour match. The colour was a really rich warm chocolate brown. My original colour is a medium mousy brown. It was much darker than I wanted and certainly darker than I have ever gone. Everyone told me that it suited me but I completely disagree. I wanted a quick fix where I can fade the dye without buying those really damaging colour strippers.

Instead of the colour stripper, I used a medicated scalp treatment shampoo. It did the job within a few washes and left my hair in a relatively decent condition all whilst treating my problematic scalp. It is quite an affective method to use unless of course you want to see dramatic instant results- in that case, reach for the colour stripper. Depending on the intensity of your colour, the amount of washes may vary. If it is a dark, intense colour and a dramatic difference to your original colour then it will take a few more washes than if it were a closer colour match so bare that in mind when looking at the results.

I do hope this helps you out a little as I know it has worked for me several times. I'd just thought I would share this with you to prevent you from the damage that comes with bleach and colour strippers.
