The Drive Ins

Ahh the drive ins. There's just something about the drive ins that I just adore. I rarely ever go to the cinema because the nearest one is still a half hour drive away from where I live and it can get ridiculously expensive! But still, I always love going to see a drive in movie.

I'm not sure why I prefer it, maybe it's the fact that I am forever wishing I was born back in the day to experience those movie scene dates where you would be hiding under a blanket on the floor of a car or even in the boot to avoid paying, romantic isn't it!?

There were quite a few drive in theatres in Perth till recently where sadly only one is left standing and I don't think it's going to last. In the Summer, Perth is alive with all the trendy things to see and do, and last year the introduction of rooftop cinemas has taken its toll on the popularity of the drive ins, so I try to visit regularly to keep the Ol' thing going!

I decided to take my friend Jamison out for her birthday. The drive ins were playing a double feature movie like they always do on the weekends. Joseph Gordon Levitt's latest film "The Walk" and Meryl Streep's "Ricki and the Flash" - she's a big Meryl fan.

We started off with a trip to McDonald's because compared to the food available at the drive ins, McDonald's is gourmet! They should definitely consider changing the menu or completely demolishing it and introducing little food trucks.

Once we arrived, we ate our cold McDonald's and waited for "The Walk" to start. We set up the car by reclining the seats to be completely folded down and layed on the flat boot with an abundance of cushions and blankets as it was quite a cold October night.

Both of the movies were great, I personally preferred "The Walk" as I love true stories and I love Joseph Gorden Levitt (he's definitely my favourite actor!)  whereas Jamieson took favour of Ricki and the Flash.

It was a great night out and I highly encourage you to visit your local Drive Ins  as they may not be around for much longer with all these new hipster bar locations.

All my love,
