Strobing - Uber Glowy Skin

If you've been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks or so, you may not be familiar with this 'strobing'. Basically strobing is just extremely sheeny, glowy highlighted skin. It's taken the Internet by storm lately but I'm not entirely sure why, I suppose being Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, this seasons trend is GLOW!

I'm personally a fan of strobing as it just looks really fresh and adds a little somethin' somethin' to your makeup. I've never really liked a matte base because of my extremely dry skin so I'm all about the dew.

Today I wanted to show you how to achieve that ever popular radiance that everyone has been talking about.

To get the glow from within I recommend using a dry oil before you apply a primer. A dry oil will add a layer of hydration so your skin will naturally look glowy but not greasy as a dry oil is made to sink into your skin and to wear under makeup.

You could opt for a primer that promises a radiant glow. This will not only help your makeup last longer but smooth over dryness and add some dew.

For coverage use a glowy dewy foundation. Something light to medium coverage is perfect for this particular look. You could also use a tinted moisturiser/bb cream/cc cream ect. Avoid matte finishes in foundations.

When using a light coverage base you may need something a little heavier to cover those imperfections. Use a concealer in the same shade as your foundation to cover up and use a highlighting concealer to brighten the under eye area, tops of the cheek bones, on the chin, down the nose and on the forehead.

The whole strobing concept is essentially full face highlighting. Highlight and contour- without the contour. The highlight is supposed to add dimension to the face without the dark brown we smudge along our non existent cheekbones to get that Kim K look. Unlike many tutorials and how to's by other bloggers/vloggers I insist in adding just a little bronzer to the high points of your face. I suggest a glowy shimmery one as it blends in better with the highlighter and assists in the strobing.

To achieve that wet look highlight ontop of your cheekbones you can use this quick little beauty secret. It's as simple as placing a little lipbalm (non tinted) or Vaseline onto the area above your cheekbones. This will give you a natural non sweaty looking glow- a burst of radiance if you will.

And now FINALLY, the HIGHLIGHTER! Add a shimmery champagne highlighter to your cheekbones, brow bone, nose, cupids bow, chin and a little on your forehead. Add as little or as much as you desire.

And there it is! Strobing 123... Or 7? It seems excessive to have all those steps but you don't really have to do majority of them. Do them all or do one! It's up to you. Or alternatively you could just dip your face into bowl of water to get that wet look but where's the fun in that!?

Thanks for reading as always!
All my love xx
